Cumbum Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Theni district in the South region of Tamil Nadu: Uthamapalayam Taluk (Part) Thevaram, T. Meenatchipuram, Pannaipuram, Uthamapalayam, Mallingapuram, Gohilapuram, Rayappanpatti, Alagapuri, Muthulapuram, Chinnaovulapuram, Erasakkanayackanur, Kanniservaipatti, Erasakkanayackanur Hills, Veppampatti and Seepalakottai villages. Chinnamanur (M), Odaipatti (TP), Thevaram (TP), Pannaipuram (TP), Kombai (TP), Uthamapalayam (TP), Hanumanthanpatti (TP), Pudupatti (TP) and Cumbum (M)

This constituency covers an approximate area of 308 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Cumbum is: 9°47'07.8"N 77°17'27.6"E.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 69.51%, while it was 73.98% in 2016, and 76.37% in 2011.

In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, N Ramakrishnan of DMK won in this constituency beating Syedukhan S P M of AIADMK by a margin of 42413 votes which was 21.14% of the total votes cast. In 2016, S.T.K.Jakkaiyan of AIADMK was the winner in this seat beating Cumbum.N,Ramakrishnan of DMK by a margin of 11221 votes which was 5.78% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Eramakrishnan.N of DMK won this seat defeating Murugesan.P of DMDK by a margin of 12168 votes which was 7.36% of the total votes polled for the seat.
