    This constituency covers an approximate area of 754.99 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Barachatti is: 24°32'07.4"N 85°02'26.5"E.

    A total of four Assembly constituencies in the state of Bihar share borders with Barachatti constituency, which are: Gurua, Belaganj, Bodh Gaya, Sherghati. This constituency shares an inter-state border with Jharkhand.

    In the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, Jyoti Devi of HAMS won in this constituency beating Samata Devi of RJD by a margin of 6318 votes which was 3.42% of the total votes cast. In 2015, Samta Devi of RJD was the winner in this seat beating Sudha Devi of LJP by a margin of 19126 votes which was 12.25% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2010 Assembly elections, Jyoti Devi of JDU won this seat defeating Samta Devi of RJD by a margin of 23746 votes which was 20.7% of the total votes polled for the seat.
