This constituency covers an approximate area of 656.1 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Nabinagar is: 24°45'53.3"N 84°11'16.8"E.

A total of five Assembly constituencies in the state of Bihar share borders with Nabinagar constituency, which are: Dehri, Obra, Aurangabad, Kutumba, Sasaram. This constituency shares an inter-state border with Jharkhand.

In the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, Vijay Kumar Singh Alias Dabloo Singh of RJD won in this constituency beating Virendra Kumar Singh of JDU by a margin of 20121 votes which was 12.6% of the total votes cast. In 2015, Virendra Kumar Singh of JDU was the winner in this seat beating Gopal Narayan Singh of BJP by a margin of 5261 votes which was 3.89% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2010 Assembly elections, Virendra Kumar Singh of JDU won this seat defeating Vijay Kumar Singh of LJP by a margin of 11834 votes which was 11.62% of the total votes polled for the seat.
