A. Namassivayam, a senior BJP leader and Puducherry’s Home Minister, is one of the NDA’s key faces in the Union Territory and is contesting from Mannadipet. A veteran politician, he previously served as the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president before joining the BJP. He was elected as an MLA from Mannadipet in the 2021 Assembly elections on a BJP ticket.

In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP fielded him from Puducherry’s lone parliamentary seat, where he lost to Congress leader V Vaithilingam. Namassivayam holds a diploma in civil engineering and is related to Chief Minister and AINRC founder N Rangasamy. Earlier, he represented the Villianoor constituency (2016-2021) and Oulgaret (2011) as a Congress MLA.

For the 2026 Puducherry Assembly elections, Namassivayam has declared total assets worth Rs 27.78 crore, up from Rs 25.77 crore disclosed during the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. He is one of the wealthiest candidates in the Union Territory this time.
